Politics is an odd game. It’s rife with scheming, special interests and spin resulting in a vacuum where the truth finds it difficult to exist. Although I might not like some politicians, I do respect them for the challenges they have to face within their profession and the sheer willpower and energy it must take for a person to ascend to the presidency.
Barack is obviously an intelligent man and a powerful orator yet along with these gifts — the more I learned about the guy — I discovered a family man with a broad smile and a good sense of humor. A few months ago I decided I wanted to capture that side of Obama on steel.
Process
This piece was weathered and rusted over 2 months in the rains of the Rocky Mountains. Areas of the steel are protected and others are left exposed. The exposed areas corrode as the weather hits the metal. Once I like the composition of the rust, I then apply a sealer so that the steel will stop rusting. The entire process is natural and no harsh acids or faux rust paints are used.
Limited Edition
A limited edition of 10 of this piece will be made available. Each of which will feature the same image, yet the natural corrosion process means that no two pieces can ever rust the same. This has the effect of making each piece the same, yet unique.

Well, Danno, when I clicked on your web page from Twitter and I saw where you said, “Circles are the coolest shapes ever, etc.,) I was going to argue w/ya (I do like circles, but I like all shapes. When I was attending the Art Institute I fell in love w/shapes…anyway). However, seeing your work, I’ve decided that you are probably a better judge at this than I
You have very nice work and I’m glad I found your site (don’t know what made me follow you on twitter, though, can’t remember—glad I did though)
Metal Wall Art
Your design was impressive! I never thought this would be a great art. I can say that there are so many styles to choose from when decorating but this one is awesome.
